BREAKING STEREOTYPES THROUGH COLORFUL PALETTES: CULTURAL COMPETENCE AS THE CORE OF INCLUSIVE EARLY CHILDHOOD DIVERSITY
Abstract: This paper examines the critical role of cultural competence within early childhood education as a fundamental mechanism for dismantling deeply ingrained stereotypes and cultivating genuinely inclusive learning environments. Employing the evocative metaphor of „colorful palettes,“ the research explores how educators can effectively harness the rich tapestry of diverse cultural backgrounds to not only enrich the educational experience but also challenge and dismantle preconceived notions that often perpetuate discriminatory practices. The central issue of this paper states that cultural competence is not merely an ancillary component or an optional add-on to early childhood education but, rather, it is the core element necessary for achieving authentic inclusivity. This perspective underscores the idea that understanding and valuing cultural diversity must be woven into the very fabric of educational practices, rather than treated as a peripheral concern.

РАЗБИЈАЊЕ СТЕРЕОТИПА ШАРЕНОМ ПАЛЕТОМ: КУЛТУРНА КОМПЕТЕНЦИЈА КАО ТЕМЕЉ ИНКЛУЗИВНЕ РАЗНОЛИКОСТИ МАЛЕ ДЕЦЕ
Апстракт: Овај рад се бави кључном улогом културне компетенције у раном образовању као основним начином за рушење дубоко укорењених стереотипа и стварање стварно инклузивних средина за учење. Користећи сликовиту метафору „шарених палета“, истражује се како наставници могу ефикасно да искористе богатство различитих културних позадина не само да би обогатили образовно искуство, већ и да би преиспитали и разбили унапред створене идеје које често воде ка дискриминацији. Главна поента овог рада је да културна компетенција није само нека споредна ствар или опциони додатак раном образовању, већ је суштински елемент неопходан за истинску инклузивност. Ова перспектива наглашава да разумевање и вредновање културне разноликости мора бити уткано у саму срж образовних пракси, а не третирано као нешто мање важно.
